Welcome to the 'NAVODAYA FAMILY'.
As per the scheme of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti to set–up one JNV in every district and Union Territory of the country. JNV Chandigarh was established in 1987 at temporary site in Sector 46, Chandigarh, later on it is shifted to West of Sector 25 at its permanent site spread over an area of 27.4 acres. It has a state of the art building and other facilities regarding education, accommodation and infrastructure. Indeed the JNV Chandigarh has come up as the “Smart School” and “Brand Equity” for all JNVs of the country.
Our educational system has been going through catalytic changes in the past. The question is – Does all sound development means equipping our students with Academic sports and artistic skills only? Does this ensure good human being? Out of this melting pot of conflicting demands and needs emerged Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh where excellence has been the hallmark for the last twenty years.
The Vidyalaya has been a laboratory of innovating teaching techniques for the last twenty years. One of the biggest challenges has been teacher training programmes where Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti have opened National Leader Institutes where the teachers are trained as per new learning techniques that have been introduced in Navodaya Vidyalaya.
An important component of school education is sports. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has emerged a leader in sports that it offers to each and every one of its students during their tenure of six years and we have been able to produce players up to national and SGFI level.
As each one of these areas developed we felt a persistent need for creating a platform from where the school could foray into society under pace setting programme. In the entire concept of education the role of parents can never be undermined as they are the lashers of all the responsibilities in rearing who finally share the joy of blossoming of their respective children with the teachers and the school. At JNV, Chandigarh the support of the parents has been unflinching.
No matter what each country determines to do about education issues of 21st Century, we must all work together across what ever barriers may exists for the ultimate good of our young people whose future depends on our efforts to give them appropriate skills and knowledge to make their countries and the world a better, happier and more peaceful place.
Allow me to finish my remarks by using all the students of this great school supported by their families and the community to proceeded in their lives with a sprit of purposes and vitality; of optimizations and unity; of compassion and integrity; of virtuosity and innovation; of dedication and dignity; of tolerance and justice; of the pursuit of excellence and service to community and mankind; and of love and care for each other; we will then continue to be a vital part of global vision for education in 21st Century and beyond.
